Creating a holder by using drag and drop method

Mostly you just use drag and drop method in Ironcad. It's not often you begin with a sketch. It depends of course what type of item you are going to create but even more complex items are created with drag and drop method. Really good demonstration of how to do this, without having to use sketches. Thank you.
Thanks for your comments @geoffh3431
On external threads whether you cut or form them, the root will have a sharp V depending on the design of the cutting tool or the rolls. In most cases the root will be a sharp V if we are talking about 60 degree or 55 degree V threads. OTOH, internal threads will have a flat at the minor diameter as they are typically single pointed, formed or tapped. Look closely at a commercial fastener and you will see what I am talking about.
Thanks for your comments Terry :). I know what you are talking about but in this case I was showing how you can use the standard formula for threads and create them in Ironcad. It's different when it comes to manufacturing threads.
@@Edusign I've used IC since 2013 and just use the sharp thread form for V shaped threads.
Could you do an example of creating male/female threads using the Threads command?
I'm personally looking for how to make a M42 Screw Mount for old camera lenses. Both the Male part from the Lenses and a Matching female part like on the camera bodies, but the threads command is confusing me. I'm pretty new to CAD in general but this program seemed the most intuitive with the 3d working space it has.
One more thing. Can you Make a sketch full size screen just for a minute or so, that screen shot can be made for self doing before seeing what you did. And then will be fine the way you have it.
Good but the 5 mm blend on the bottom bracket is too big. It looks more like 2 or maybe 3 but not 5. This is just looking at the sketch.
Thanks for your comments JBCool
I love Ironcad. Very capable software.
Thank you for those IronCAD tutorials 🙏
👍
Really? A variable blend??? Thank you!!!
Thank you Bertil!!! I thought I was pretty good with IronCad, but you've taught me so much. Many extrusion techniques that I wasn't familiar with, and you've explained them in a very careful and thorough way. I'm slowly working my way through all of the parts of your tutorial. Again, thank you. John
Thank you John! I'm glad that you appreciate the tutorials. I'm preparing another tutorial that has to do with sheet metal. I hope that tutorial will be useful.
Thank you for a very clear step by step tutorial of how to create what is a pretty complex part, I just wish there were more Ironcad tutorial video's as good as this. Please keep up the great work you do
How is the bottom. Because I think you went too far with the first hole. I know that others made the same mistake with those two holes. The bottom should be one round hole and not looking bad with two holes that no one will make a gascket like that.
The other thing is why you use calculater when just simple use triball and go 235 from the edge.
A good question :)
One more comment. The main cylinder is 101 mm. The dimension shows 50.5 mm in section D-D. That is from center to the edge.
Hi, that distance is from the center to the rib. The radius is 50mm
@@Edusignno its not. You can see in the cut out of the section. The rib position is the same as the end of cylinder. Just like th dimensions shows 101.5 from end of cylinder
@@JBCool0729 120-70=50
Its good but like every one else you make the same mistake with the hole at 22:16 . the hole goes deeper the what everyone is doing. 😢
You are absolutely right 👍. The hole depth should be 31,25 or if the hole depth is 25 the thread depth should be 20
Cheers for putting this tutorial series on youtube, was exactly what I was looking for to get started doing animation in blender.
I'm happy to hear that you find it helpfull :)

This is such a coincidence. Just three days ago I disassembled a Stuart #9 that my grandfather built in 1965. I've modelled all the parts in IronCad and was about to animate the assemble. Your videos will help me through what was going to be a very steep learning curve. Many, many thanks. John (Toronto Canada). BTW - I have three more of his engines to do - rocking beam, triple expansion and another horizontal.
Hello John I was also going to model the engine in Ironcad but I made it in Blender first. I hope you have time to go through the tutorial /Bertil
Thanks for this fantastic step, I have learned so much from this video.
Thanks Alexander! I will add more tutorals soon.
Utrolig bra. Tusen takk 🙂
👍
Wow, thos tool is very intuitive.
Never used this software, my background is 2D but found this tutorial really interesting! :D
Another great step by step tutorial, thank you so much.
Great step by step tutorial creating what is quite a complex part, thank you please do more like this.
Thank you for this clear step by step tutorial, as a new user of Ironcad but an experienced user of other solid modelers I found this very useful & hope you will continue do more like this. I believe the lack of this type of detailed tutorial compared to the number to be found for the likes of Solidworks, Inventor etc is a big reason why it is not more widely used as it is very powerful & relatively easy system to become productive with in a short amount of time compared to the previously mentioned big players, I used Solidworks & had 2 weeks of professional training & it was a much steeper learning curve. Anyway thanks again & keep up the good work!
Thanks Geoff. If you visit ironcad.academy, you will find a lot of tutorials for Ironcad. The beginners course is free. On my channel I will publish tutorials that will show how to use Ironcad in different situations. And I will not compete with ironcad.academy or the Swedish Company Solidmakarna.se.
ahh the simplest valve gear of them all: highball forward and never look back.
☺️ ???????
Superbra. Tack!
